He was the son of Wilgus Herald III and the late Stacey Lee Pence Herald.

Surviving is his father, Wilgus Herald, III; 2 sisters, Nina Makya Grace Herald and Katherine Kateri T. Herald both of Dry Ridge, KY; maternal grandmother, Darlene Adams Pence of Dry Ridge, KY and maternal grandfather, Leland Pence of Williamstown, KY; and paternal grandfather, Wilgus Herald, II of Florence, KY.

Private family services will take place at a later date at the convenience of the family.
