Yvonne Sue Downing Woods

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Yvonne Sue Downing Woods, who departed this life on February 12, 2026, at St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood, Kentucky. Born on December 3, 1942, in Ripley, Ohio, Yvonne made a significant impact on those around her through her warm spirit and loving nature.

Yvonne dedicated over twenty years of her life to her career as a seamstress at Keep Fit Sewing in Covington, Kentucky. Her skillful hands not only crafted beautiful garments but also stitched joy into the lives of many who benefited from her talent. Those who knew her will remember her as a homebody, content to spend her days watching cooking shows, reading books, piecing together puzzles and enjoying quality time with her family and pets. She was particularly known for her delightful Tahitian Salad, a recipe that brought smiles to family gatherings.

Yvonne is survived by her loving son, Christopher Woods; her brother, Charles Laypool; her sister, Patricia "Pete" (Rick) Webb; four cherished grandchildren, Natasha (Elwood), Kristina, David and Kristen; and nine beloved great-grandchildren. She will forever be remembered for her unwavering love for all animals and the bond she shared with her family.

Yvonne is preceded in death by her son, David Gilbert; her daughter, Rebecca Webster; her brother, Darrell Downing; her two sisters, Katherine Laypool and Norma Lee Kirk; and her grandsons, Timothy Webster, Jr., and Joshua Webster. The love and memories they created together will forever hold a special place in the hearts of those who survive her.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the visitation on February 19, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM at the Elliston - Stanley Funeral Home in Williamstown, Kentucky. Rev. Howard Chipman will be officiating services.  She will be laid to rest with her family at the Mason Baptist Church Cemetery in Mason, KY.

As we remember Yvonne, let us celebrate her kind and gentle spirit, the warmth she provided to her loved ones, and the legacy of love she leaves behind.
