James Daniel Hedger, a Dry Ridge resident, passed away on Monday, July 4, 2016 in Lexington at the age of 71.  He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Carol Hall Hedger.

Mr. Hedger was a farmer his entire life.  He was proud to be ranked as the #1 dairy farmer in Kentucky over many other dairy farms.  He even accomplished an 11 year straight success rate of milking without a single day being missed. He was an Army Vietnam veteran, a member of the Grant County Fair Board for 30 years, he weighed tractors at the county tractor pulls, helped run the dairy shows, was a member of the National Holstein Cattle Association, was a former little league coach, traveling baseball coach and volunteered for many school and educational activities.

In addition to his wife Carol, Mr. Hedger is survived by one son, Jimmy Dan Hedger (Misty) of Dry Ridge, one daughter, Jamie Brantley (Jeff) of Dry Ridge and four grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mr. Hedger will be Friday, July 8, 2016 at 1pm at the Eckler - McDaniel Funeral Home in Dry Ridge, KY.  Visitation for Mr. Hedger will be from 10am-1pm on Friday at the funeral home.  Burial with military honors will be at the Hill Crest Cemetery in Dry RIdge, KY.  Memorials are suggested to the Williamstown Methodist Church, 206 Paris St., Williamstown, KY 41097.
